Overview
The role will primarily involve overseeing Technical services and ensuring smooth operations across various technical aspects. This includes customer complaints, KPI reports, lab data management, and retailer systems.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who can quickly navigate the suite of systems and provide effective leadership to a lean technical team.
This position will require someone who can manage the day-to-day technical operations while maintaining strong relationships with customers and ensuring compliance within a high-risk environment.
The Role
As Interim Technical Services Manager, you will:
- Oversee all technical services-related operations across the site, including complaints management and customer KPI reporting.
- Manage and analyse lab data (microbiological and analytical) and ensure it aligns with quality and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with key customers (Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Lidl) to ensure that customer-specific systems and lab data meet their requirements.
- Collaborate with the Site TM, QA Manager, and Spec Manager to provide technical leadership and support to the lean technical team.
- Troubleshoot issues and resolve technical problems without generating new challenges.
- Monitor and maintain high-risk cooking processes, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain and enhance systems used for data reporting, customer communication, and internal monitoring.
- Provide support and training to the technical team as needed, promoting a collaborative, people-centric culture.
- Liaise with cross-functional departments to ensure effective communication and resolution of issues.
The Candidate
As an Interim Technical Services Manager, you will have:
- Proven experience in a technical services management role, ideally within a high-risk food production or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with top-4 retailer systems
- Strong background in high-risk cooking facilities, ideally with knowledge of 24/7 operations and high-volume lines (slicing, packing, curing, and cooking).
- Ability to navigate complex systems quickly and efficiently, with a hands-on approach.
- Ability to hit the ground running and manage technical services with minimal direction.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks concurrently.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with both customers and internal teams.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of performance and compliance.
