The Role
The successful Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will:
- Lead the Health, Safety & Environment team, promoting a strong safety culture across the site.
- Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation, industry standards and ISO 14001 / 45001 requirements.
- Oversee risk assessments for all operations and ensure robust systems for managing hazards, contractors, equipment, PPE and hazardous substances.
- Take the lead on accident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
- Deliver regular safety briefings, toolbox talks and training, keeping staff engaged and informed on best practice.
- Advise managers and senior leadership on HSE matters, providing reports on performance, incidents and improvements.
- Carry out audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with both internal standards and external regulations.
- Identify opportunities to enhance systems, processes and culture, developing long-term strategies for improvement.
- Work with HR and occupational health to support employee wellbeing and health surveillance programmes.
- Maintain and develop the integrated HSE management system to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.
The Candidate
The successful Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will have:
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
- Food manufacturing experience or similar.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001.
