Overview
Our client is a well-established food manufacturer operating a unique dairy production site in Liverpool area. Following the acquisition of the site around 12 months ago, the business is investing heavily in its future and is focused on building robust processes, systems and a high-performance culture.
They are now looking to appoint an experienced Interim Shift Manager to provide immediate leadership while the search for a permanent appointment continues. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence site standards, develop people and help shape the future of the operation.
The Role
- Lead manufacturing operations on a 4-on, 4-off rotating shift pattern (7am-7pm / 7pm-7am).
- Manage and support a team of approximately 30 operators through Team Leaders.
- Ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
- Drive improvements in manufacturing processes, systems and ways of working.
- Coach, develop and hold teams accountable to high performance standards.
- Conduct performance management activities including coaching conversations and absence reviews.
- Promote a strong culture of engagement, accountability and operational excellence.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and Site Director to implement site improvements.
- Help establish best practice across a site that is continuing its transformation following recent investment.
- Lead from the front with a visible, hands-on management style.
The Candidate
- Proven Shift Manager or Production Manager experience within food manufacturing.
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate and engage operational teams.
- Experience implementing new processes, systems and standard ways of working.
- Strong coaching and people development skills.
- Confidence managing performance, conducting difficult conversations and maintaining high standards.
- The ability to build credibility quickly and influence people at all levels.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Previous interim experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Immediate availability or the ability to start within a short timeframe is highly desirable.
